Description
Chien-Ming Wang has been the ace of the Yankees staff since first coming up to the Major League level with the team in 2005. He was signed by the Yanks in 2000, and played with the Staten Island Yankees in 2000 and 2002. He was first invited to Yankees Spring Training camp in Tampa, Florida in 2003, and was the only player issued the number 76 in Yankees spring training camp from 2003 (see Image # 1816921 from 2003, Image # 3021086 and # 3021089 from 2004, and Image # 52463816 from 2005 at GettyImages.com) through the middle of 2005 spring training, when he changed his number to his now familiar # 40 (see Getty Image # 53237280) just before he came up to the big leagues in his rookie season. See his first 3 years' spring training statistics here: 2003 Spring Training: 0-1, 23.14 era in 2 games 2004 Spring Training: 0-0, 0.00 era in 1 game 2005 Spring Training: 3-0, 1.00 era in 3 games This is his 2004 Spring Training game used blue jersey. Other than the first home game of the spring training season when the Yankees traditionally wear their home pinstripe jerseys, the Yankees wore these blue jerseys for all home and road games as well as all workouts during spring training. This is a full-button Majestic BP jersey with size 50 flag tag. Light wear is evident as displayed in ther attached photos, consistent with a spring training jersey. Although it is difficult to photo-match Yankees batting practice jerseys in general due to their solid dark blue color, this jersey can be style-matched to the 2004 Leaf Prospects and 2004 Topps Prospects cards (see photos). On the Leaf card you can see the full-button style on front, and on the Topps card you can clearly see Wang's #76 on back. The Yankees-Steiner Letter of Authenticity lists this jersey as "Yankees #76 2004 Game Used Spring Training Jersey Full Button Size 50." The jersey and letter of authenticity have matching Steiner game used holograms - #25198. Apparently when the letter was created it was not known that this jersey belonged to Wang, and so his name does not appear on the letter. This is your chance to obtain one of the first-ever Yankees jerseys worn by the Yanks' Taiwanese Ace. Money orders, certified checks and Paypal are preferred methods of payment.
