Description
Up for sale is my entire collection of baseball cards; I am not splitting the collection into multiple lots to sell them.  The buyer will receive everything that is included in the photos below.  The oldest card dates to 1966 and I do not have any cards that are newer than 1995.  The majority of the cards range from 1975-1995, although I do not believe every year is represented in that time range.  I have a variety of cards available, including Topps, Bowman, Fleer, Score, Score Select, Upper Deck, Donruss, Sportflics, Pinnacle, Leaf, Studio, MVPs, Record Breakers, Rookies, Rookie of the Years, Classics, All-Stars, Collectors Choice/Series, Autographed Cards, Commons, and much more.  The quality of the cards is variable.  Most of which I believe are in extremely good condition and really should be graded while a few others have scuffed edges.  It is notable to mention that I do not have any cards that have been graded, but like I noted, there are quite a number of cards that really should be graded.  I've been tracking and researching baseball cards for a couple of weeks now to determine the value of some of my cards on ebay and establish the amount to sell my collection.  When I was doing that, I found that even for the cards that are worth only 3 or 4 dollars ungraded, they quickly jump in value once the cards have officially been graded.  Most of the cards have been kept in the plastic sleeves, although not all of them.  As a matter of fact, toward the end of my interest in baseball cards (around 1993), I was given two sets of Topps cards (1993 and 1994) that were never opened; they are still in their plastic wrapping.  I do not know the cards these boxes contain, but my best guess is they are very well preserved.  I have never kept any of the cards in a capacity that would threaten them with any type of weathering, water damage, or weight.  I've tried to keep a majority of the cards in acid-free environments (plastic sleeves) and avoid the possibility of attracting pests, such as silverfish (if you are unaware, silverfish like to live in the cardboard ruffles of boxes and are simply attracted by the use of tape or glue used on or near to the items).  I'm selling this collection because my wife and I just moved into our home and, quite frankly, I don't want to move the containers of cards again.  Also, I really do not have an interest in baseball, at all.  When I was younger, I really enjoyed collecting the cards, but I lost interest about 15 years ago and have just held onto them ever since.  I have absolutely no interest in establishing the grading on the cards, selling them individually, or having anything more to do with them.  I'm positive my net profit would be larger if I graded them and sold them individually, but I have absolutely no interest in taking the time to do that.  I think I've developed a fair price for the lot, which I would like to explain to you now. On November 1 of this year, I researched the total amount for which individual baseball cards were being sold.  When I searched to determine the value, I searched for the cost of the card according to its Price and Shipping.  The reason for my decision to do it that way is because when a card is sold, they are sometimes sold for a reasonable or higher value of the card with a fair value of shipping (hypothetically a value and shipping total of $10).  Other times, however, I've noticed some of the same cards are sold for a penny while shipping costs are ridiculously expensive (hypothetically the same total or very close to $10).  This says to me the sellers simply have different selling strategies.  Moreover, if the buyer assumes the final price is $10, no matter the method by which he/she paid for the item, the value of the card becomes $10.  Therefore, when I discuss the selling values of the cards on Ebay below, I am implying the price plus shipping.  On that day and time, 164613 baseball/sports cards were being sold.  The breakdown of the selling values is listed below: $0.01 - 2.89.........13223 cards..........8.03% of the total cards $2.90 - 4.99..........60471 cards.........36.74% of the total cards $5.00 - 9.99..........29394 cards.........17.86% of the total cards $10.00 - 19.99......24863 cards..........15.10% of the total cards $20.00 - 29.99......8473 cards............5.15% of the total cards $30.00 - 49.99......7116 cards............4.32% of the total cards $50.00 - 99.99......8394 cards............5.10% of the total cards $100.00 - 999.99...10974 cards..........6.67% of the total cards $1000+.................1705 cards...........1.04% of the total cards TOTALS                164613 cards       100.01%   A total of 13223 cards were being sold for $0.01 - 2.89 per card, which is 8.03% of the total amount of cards being sold.  Therefore, 151390 cards or 91.98% of the cards that were listed for sale on ebay on that date and time were sold for more than $2.89/card.  One final note is that of the 13223 cards that were sold between $0.01 - $2.89/card, a large percentage of those cards were cards that dated from 2000-2008 (I do not know the exact percentage since I have no idea how or if it is even possible to run that type of query on Ebay), which as noted above, I do not have any cards that post-date 1995.  Starting at $2.89, I lowered each card by $0.10 as a good faith effort to be within the lowest price range of the individual cards, but I also lowered the price an additional $0.42 to cover the basic fee of a stamp as a good faith effort to further assist the buyer with their re-sale value of the cards.  Therefore, I am sellling my collection for $2.37 per card.  As a result, the individual re-sale value of many of these cards in the collection will likely be higher than the price I am charging per card as evident in the data above.   I am charging $2.37/card for 8500 baseball cards.  When I was counting the baseball cards, I actually counted 8573 cards, but to be absolutely certain I did not accidentally over count, I am charging for only 8500 cards to mitigate for any margin of human error.  I am also including with this sale over 100 other sports cards that include soccer, football, hockey, and basketball.  I am not charging anything for these cards, they are free to the buyer.  As a matter of fact, I didn't even know I had them nor do I have any idea of where they came from.  These cards are variably from the 80s and early 90s.  I am also including with this sale two posters (the first of which has been folded in the past and the second will not be sent with the frame in which it is placed as depicted in the photo; rather, it will be rolled within a shipping tube) and a Darryl Strawberry lapel pin, all of which is included with the $2.37/card price.  I am also offering free shipping within the continental United States to limit the cost of any additional out-of-pocket expenses to the buyer.  However, if the buyer resides in Hawaii, Alaska, or at an international location, then the buyer will likely be required to provide some assistance to ease the cost of shipping.  The seller will work with the Alaskan, Hawaiian, and international buyers to limit the cost of shipping to the buyer. I do of course invite all questions and will answer them to the best of my ability.  I am also willing to snap additional photos for anyone who wants them, as long as the total number of photos you are requesting are within reason.  I work from 8-5 on the weekdays, eastern standard time zone (EST).  So, if I do not get to your inquiries until after 6:00 EST, please be patient as I will get to them.  Finally, I do not have an inventory of the cards and so I may be unable to answer some of the more specific questions, but I will certainly do my best.
